FIRST APPOINTMENT
Initial Exam (No Charge)
The first appointment is “let’s find out what it’s all about” and will take approximately one and a half hours. After completing the necessary forms, photos and X-rays will be taken and reviewed at this appointment. Your orthodontist will perform an orthodontic examination and explain your orthodontic case, alternative methods of treatment and approximate length of treatment. The cost of your orthodontic treatment and possible payment plans will also be discussed. Remember, this is your opportunity to ask questions!
SECOND APPOINTMENT
Records/Contracts (Often Combined with the First Appointment)
At this appointment, additional diagnostic records may be taken. These diagnostic records, along with the findings from your orthodontic examination, are used for in-depth study of your case. Additional records will be taken during your treatment to record progress or make a treatment plan decision.
You will sign Advised Consent forms and Contracts and your down payment is due at this time.
Separating elastics may also be placed. These “separators” or “spacers” prepare spaces between your teeth for future placement of orthodontic bands.
This appointment lasts approximately one hour.
THIRD APPOINTMENT
Banding
At this appointment, orthodontic bands and brackets and/or special appliances are placed on your teeth. This appointment usually lasts two hours and we request that a parent or legal guardian be present for necessary instructions from the orthodontic assistant during the last 15 minutes. Throughout treatment, it may be necessary to have two or three lengthy appointments to place, reposition or change your braces.
